The current situation with COVID-19 does not allow us to hold the Workshop within the planned period 6-8 October 2020 in Dortmund. We certainly wish to have it not as an online meeting, but as a presence workshop, bringing together friends and colleagues. Therefore, we decided to shift the Workshop in time. As the situation is still very dynamic, we do not want to fix an alternate date at this moment, but we will monitor the situation carefully and will decide on a new date well in advance.
Sincerely,
Dmitri Yakovlev and Manfred Bayer

The field of semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) has started in the early 1980s with the discovery of the size-dependent optical properties of nanocrystals. While being mostly objects of scientific curiosity during the first 30 years, recently NCs have been developed to a level, where they represent a prospective basis for multibillion dollar applications. At this verge to applications it is the right time to bring together world-leading specialists including many pioneers on the field, to present and discuss the perspectives for advancing the field, covering the range from basic nanocrystal chemistry and physics to accelerating transfer into applications.
DONC2020 will cover many areas that are important in this respect and have currently substantial impact. Some of the topics to be discussed are novel low-dimensional semiconductors with appealing transport and optical properties, doping of nanostructures as basis for charge manipulation in electronics, perovskite nanocrystals with their outstanding optical properties, nanocrystal surfaces influencing the magnetic properties of nonmagnetic semiconductors, coherent & incoherent spin phenomena, quantum optical phenomena such as antibunching & superradiance, applications in monitors, infrared photodetectors, as well as for in vivo and in vitro biomedicine etc.
The workshop will provide a forum for lively discussion and presentation of the latest results on a series of topics of considerable interest. It will cover many recent advances in the physics, chemistry, and technology of colloidal nanocrystals including, but not limited to:
